The Mind

It’s a wonderful tool

Often creating a fool

Filled with many thoughts

None needing bought

So much joy

For this wee boy

Sometimes its woe

Taking me so low

The trick you see

Is just to be

Controlling your mind

So your senses ain’t blind

Letting joy and woe

Neither creating a blow

Never allowing

Your unconscious mind

To control you

When it controls you

Creating a web so fibrous

Limbs no longer yours

Do so much

You’d  never do

Making you sad and blue

Hold them both

And take control

for YOU

This poem was written after reading the following quote from Nicheren Daishonin. “One should become master of ones own mind. Rather than letting ones mind master oneself”
